Django Unchained (2012)
165 min  -  Drama, Western Opening: December 25th 2012 (USA)
Director & Writer: Quentin Tarantino
Starring Jamie Foxx, Don Johnson, & Leonardo DiCaprio

The controversy surrounding this movie alone should make you want to go see it! I know I plan on attending to see this and Les Miserables on December 25th!
Story line: Jamie Foxx gets help from his mentor to rescue his wife from a plantation owner. Brief simple but not with QT! I expect twist and unexpected adventures!

What else do I anticipate? That the movie will not air in Fayetteville, AR lol, that I will hear the N word a lot, and I will see some gory scenes. However, most of all I hope that Quentin Tarantino provides a great story line and a movie that makes us feel emotionally connected.

Les Miserables

Les Miserables

Cast: Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway , Amanda Seyfried

The movie starts off during 19th century in France and highlights various characters experiences trying to make it! Watching the trailer hooked me! This is one of the few movies that has recorded actors/actress singing live on set! I am so excited to see how this plays out!

I will keep you posted!

The Raven Poster

THE RAVEN 2012

I enjoyed this movie. However, I would rate this as regular. I think that you have to be a fan of suspense or a fan of Edgar Allan Poe to truly enjoy this movie. Additionally, you may be such of a fan that you expect too much. I enjoyed the movie but it seemed somewhat long at times but I enjoyed the suspense as we determined who did what and when?!
I CANT WAIT TO GO SEE THESE MOVIES!! EXPECT REVIEWS SOON!!

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (2012) PosterThe Dark Knight Rises PosterMadea's Witness Protection (2012) Poster

Return of the Dark Knight was great! I enjoyed the twist! Anne Hathaway did a great job playing catwoman however she did not touch Michelle Pfeiffer, who played one of the most epic performances of catwoman. What can I say? Bane was sooo good at being bad and he played his role to the T! The only downfalls I would point out were the costumes which were more comic with an old school tv show feel at time. The director danced a fine line between fantasy and reality in this particular film and this costume distraction took away from the movie's ability to balance the two.

Madea was actually pretty good. Although the story lines are not changing (Madea to the rescue) this was at least entertaining. Way better than Madea goes to jail. I loved the Whoopi Goldberg reference! She is one of my favorite actresses/comedians!

Abraham Lincoln the Vampire Slayer - why did you all let me go see this.... One man freed the slaves, saved the union, and killed vampires at the same time... 0_0 well I am not sure how historically accurate this movie was but it was definitely one for the books.... red box... no wait until you can watch it for free.

Brave (2012) PosterBrave 2012

I can't wait to see!!! I will keep you posted!!
Prometheus 2012

Um Regular to Red Box... I was not impressed by this movie. The story line was about someone searching to answer the question that man has been trying to answer since time began "Who created us?" Well, I know I was created by God who sent his only Son, Jesus, to earth so we could be save from sin. However, this movie just sent these people on a wild goose chase to nowhere. I think this was a great time to develop a really good story line to articulate a stance or opinion on creation that really pushed the current mindset but they just dropped the ball. They created an opinion but didn't challenge any current mind sets or bring in new concepts.

AVENGERS 2012

Must SEE!! This marvel series did an excellent job connecting the characters as well as the audience to the concept of "the Avengers." By the end of the movies Hulk fans and Thor fans etc. were ready to take on the universe to protect earth! They did a great job of balancing humor, action, and suspense to make a hit movie!!!
SNOW WHITE & THE HUNTSMAN 2012

WOW! This movie was great! MUST SEE! This was one of the best interpretations of Snow White! In order to re-tell a story one must be able to out do the previous story that has been told many times before and they did just that! The Queen, Charlize Theron, was amazing in her ability to bring such life to her character. The only drawback for me was the writers lack of development between snow white and her true love. However, if you think about it...did they really have time to do that? Oh well, if you enjoy action, suspense, and romance then you will enjoy this!

GO GO GO!!
WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN EXPECTING 2012

What a waste of time. I really did not enjoy the movie. I expected more comedy and more Chris Rock. All of the funny scenes were shown in the previews.

RED BOX or wait for it to come on tv.

I cannot wait to see it! However, the hype and huge marketing push leaves this ALL-Star cast with HIGH expectations to exceed!

I have already lined up a "Ladies Night" with dinner and a movie Friday, April 20th, 2012! As soon as I know you will! Stay tuned!

******the REVIEW******

Well, its official! Our first "Must SEE" movie! Kevin Hart did an excellent job providing comic relief throughout the movie while also bringing the story together full circle as Cedric. Not to mention, the surprise guests definitely added to the comic relief as well as the sexy factor that was already potent among this all-star cast. The comedy in this movie was so good that there was no way they could show all of the scenes in the previews. However, I would say initially some of the character's roles were over exaggerated but eventually became more practical. The acting was great because they were able to capture their audience and make them connect to the characters. For instance, when Candace went to visit Michael's (Terrence J) mother for the first time everyone in the audience seemed to sympathize with her as she witnessed first hand the dynamics of the unbreakable mother-son duo. Additionally, the movie brought up some real life situations that both men and women encounter such as mo money mo problems vs the dream team-broke phi broke (WE Ain't Got IT!), 90 day wait vs Just give me the Cookie, and Us vs Yo Mama!

The music selection throughout the movie was great! From Jodeci to John Legend this movie left you humming on the way home and hopeful that the right person would soon swept you off your feet. I would say by the time I went to see this movie the Jennifer Hudson song had grown on me.

If you LOVE to laugh then I would definitely recommend this movie to you. However, you cannot have one without the other, romance is sure to follow so watch out if you are scared of the inevitable.

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance
*Action*Fantasy*Thriller
(Originally a comic book series by Marvel)

Director: Mark Neveldine, Brian Taylor
Cast: Nicholas Cage, Ciaran Hinds, & Idris Elba

Johnny Blaze is BACK! Johnny Blaze, a rebel stunt-devil motorcycle rider who sold his soul to the devil to "save his father's life" tries to run from his curse by traveling the world. Until he wakes up in Moreau's, Idris Elba, city and is offered a chance to redeem his soul.

I have enjoyed this series! I honestly have not seen a horrible Nicholas Cage movie yet! However for a $1 movie this was definitely not a waste for me. In this movie Nicholas Cage does a great job at humanizing a character who was created for evil purposes. Nicholas humanizes his character well through his interactions with charming yet cunning Danny. Leaving Johnny's audience hoping that he will figure out how to save Danny from losing his soul forever! My favorite scene is when Johnny Blaze turned the construction site machine into the ultimate "Mortal Kombat" fatality death! The graphics for this scene were very detailed and it was not overly computer generated. Let's just say if I was in that movie I would have left as soon as I saw Johnny get back up from the first attempt to demolish him!

Redbox it or $1 movie it! Since it came out in the US Feb 2012 it is not at the main theaters but its worth seeing. I recommend catching up on the series during a laid back weekend!

LOCKOUT (2012)
*Action*Thriller*Sci-Fi
Director(s): James Mather, Stephen St. Leger
Cast: Guy Pearce, Maggie Grace, & Peter Stormare

Guy Pearce - aka Snow, a take no mess government official, is wrongly convicted and forced to spend his sentence in a newly created outer space prison. Snow ends up trying to clear his name by taking on an assignment he cannot refuse.

Right now, this is the best action and suspense movie out! However this movie is regular. Although, there are a few twist, some scenes and concepts are predictable. Also, some of the graphics in this movie were horrible! Unfortunately, instead of enhancing the scenes it distracted me by making me think back to the graphics used in 80s horror movies. But if you love movies and you want something to watch that will engage most audiences this is the movie for you! Hydell, Joseph Gilgun, does an excellent job portraying a deranged ex-con! He makes you hate him and sympathize with him as he seeks the power and attention he so desperately desires. Also, Pearce wasn't ranked one of E's sexiest men for nothing! He seduces women with his mix of swag, charm, and sarcasm! While also maintaining the action component that keeps most men entertained and ALL viewers watching.

*regular = ok / average
*swag = captivating presence
